About The Spinifex Name

Spinifex is a native grass found in the arid regions and costal sand dunes of Australia.  Like the tumbleweeds of North America it transports its seeds as clusters that are rolled along the ground by wind.

The analogy between Spinifex grass and ceiling fans works on a number of levels; wind, movement, hot arid conditions, and importantly to us, a sustainable Australia.  At Spinifex we are proud to be a niche Australian company working in a modest but determined way to help architects, designers and home owners reduce the environmental footprint of our built environment.

It is our hope that by introducing to Australia high quality innovative design products we will better equip the design conscious community to install environmentally friendly ceiling fans in architectural spaces, reducing our dependence non-renewable energy sources which account for 94.8%* of Australia’s energy consumption.
